OSCE media freedom representative condemns attack on newspaper premises in Moscow

YEREVAN, 22 October 2013 – OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media Dunja Mijatović today condemned an attack on the editorial office of Moskovskiy Komsomolets daily in Moscow. During the attack, a number of burning objects were thrown into the lobby of the editorial office, resulting in several people requiring medical help.

“This incident should be swiftly and thoroughly investigated and those responsible should be brought to justice. The safety of media workers must be ensured in order for them to perform their important work,” Mijatović said.

Mijatović is in Yerevan attending a high-level conference on combating racism, xenophobia and intolerance in Europe, organized by Council of Europe and the Armenian authorities.
