VIENNA, 6 September 2000 - Freimut Duve, OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media, has started issuing a regular bulletin on Journalism and Elections in Serbia to draw attention to the increased campaign of violence against journalists in Serbia prior to the upcoming elections on 24 September.

For the next 19 days, the Office of the Representative will report regularly on harassment of journalists by Belgrade, on protest actions and on the fate of Miroslav Filipovic, Serbia's only journalist in prison for "espionage." The information will be collected by staff members, from open sources and through direct contacts with journalists.
