OSCE Central Asia Media Conference "Building Shared Reality: Information Integrity, Media Ethics and Trust in the Digital Age"

Organized by the OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media (RFoM) in co-operation with OSCE field operations in the region, this year’s Central Asia Media Conference (CAMC) will take place in Bishkek on 9–10 October 2026 under the theme “Building Shared Reality: Information Integrity, Media Ethics and Trust in the Digital Age".

Held every year in a different participating State, the CAMC aims at strengthening cooperation and dialogue on how respect for OSCE media freedom commitments, as well as the promotion of media ethics and information integrity contribute to building and sustaining trust in societies.

This year’s conference will offer several sessions with interactive formats on issues pertinent to media and journalism in the region. Key themes include:

• Fostering trusted information landscapes
• The implementation of the RFoM Policy Manual on Media Freedom in the Age of Big Tech Platforms and AI in Central Asia
• Information integrity in Central Asia
• Digital security for journalists
• Strengthening journalist protections with a gender-sensitive approach
• Journalism education and professional standards
• Newsroom policies for the use of artificial intelligence

Participants from the media, civil society and academia, public authorities, as well as renowned international experts, will convene to exchange views on media freedom developments in the region and identify practical approaches to strengthening information ecosystems in a way that supports open, informed, and inclusive public discourse.
