OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media to pay an official visit to Kyrgyzstan and convene the Central Asia Media Conference in Bishkek

VIENNA, 5 October 2026- On 9 and10 October, the Office of the OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media, in collaboration with OSCE field operations from the region, will hold the Central Asia Media Conference, "Building Shared Reality: Information Integrity, Media Ethics and Trust in the Digital Age", at Novotel Bishkek City Center, starting at 9:30.

Key themes of the conference include:

• Fostering trusted information landscapes
• Implementing the RFoM Policy Manual on Media Freedom in the Age of Big Tech Platforms and AI in Central Asia
• Information integrity in Central Asia
• Digital security for journalists
• Strengthening journalist protections through a gender-sensitive approach
• Journalism education and professional standards
• Newsroom policies on the use of artificial intelligence

In addition, on 9 and10 October, the OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media, Ambassador Jan Braathu, will pay his first official visit to Kyrgyzstan.
