Background
The regional media conferences, some of the largest forums on freedom of media and expression in the respective regions, are organized by the OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media. The topics discussed at the events range from questions related to legal challenges to media freedom, violence against and intimidation of journalists, and their employment conditions, to issues of media regulation and the challenges of such modern media tools as artificial intelligence and social media networks.
Conference participants, which regularly hundreds of media representatives and experts, usually include not only journalists but also government and media association representatives, as well as members of civil society and academy in the regions.
